Pinstripe Cosplay are a Cosplay duo from England. They are well-known at every convention they go to and have a strong following on YouTube, Facebook and Instagram.
We had the honor of interviewing them both via e-mail earlier this week to discuss everything from their favorite cosplay costumes to what gets them inspired.
1. What got you into cosplay?
We both share a fierce love for Yana Toboso's Black Butler series, and it brought us together as a couple. We first cosplayed Sebastian and Ciel at a local European convention, and people loved our performance that we prepared.
2. What inspires you the most about cosplay?
Cosplay is such a fantastically creative hobby. There is no one set way to cosplay, and no strict rules on how to do it either. Whether you buy your costumes or make them, everyone makes up such a welcoming community.
3. Where is your favorite cosplay convention?
I think our favourite conventions are Hyper Japan and AmeCon. Both are very different from each other: HyperJapan is fantastic for experiencing Japanese culture in the heart of London, from food to local dance, whereas AmeCon is excellent for getting together as a community and making new friends.
4. What are your top 3 cosplay costumes and why?
As for our top favorite characters to cosplay, it is a difficult decision! We will always enjoy dressing as Sebastian and Ciel. It is a sentimental choice as it was our first cosplay together. We would have to say Victor and Yuuri from Yuuri!! On Ice comes in close second. We both feel very confident as those characters! Lastly, it would be Sephiroth and Cloud combo from Final Fantasy 7. Sephiroth is a childhood choice, I (Ash) have always admired his design, and I managed to rope Marty into cosplaying Cloud with me.
5. What is the most precious cosplay item you have ever bought?
We like to make our costumes where we can, as we get great satisfaction from doing so. However, we own precious official replicas of The Lord of The Rings props. I would say the most precious item being Thranduil's brooch from The Hobbit. Wrought in silver with a golden gem encrusted in the middle, it truly is beautiful and I was happy to pay the extra for it.
