We've been getting a lot of questions since our "How To Buy Lolita Fashion From Japan" blog, and we thought it would be a good idea to address the main question "What are the top lolita brands in Japan?" Please keep in mind that you can use the following sites to search for lolita clothing you would like to buy, but you don't need to signup to these sites. With ZenMarket you can add any items from almost any Japanese online site to one shopping cart. When you have found an item you like, copy the link and paste it into our search bar to add it to your cart. If you're having any difficulties finding a lolita piece you're after, please send us a message via your ZenMarket account.

1. BABY THE STARS SHINE BRIGHT

Baby, The Stars Shine Bright also known as Baby or BTSSB is the name of one of the most well-known lolita boutique chains created by Akinori Isobe and his wife, Fumiyo. Although Baby, The Stars Shine Bright specialize in Lolita fashion, they mainly focus on Sweet Lolita. Baby, The Stars Shine Bright is well-known to Lolita lovers all around the globe, and they opened their first international retail store in Paris, France in 2007. Although new dresses are quite pricey you can grab a bargain if you buy them second-hand, see ZenMarketPlace's collection here

2. Angelic Pretty

Angelic Pretty, another Sweet Lolita brand was founded in 1979 under the name Pretty but later changed it to Angelic Pretty in the early 2000s. Like Baby, The Stars Shine Bright they sell almost any piece of clothing from dresses to bloomers. Angelic Pretty is an extremely well-known Sweet Lolita brand around the world. Due to the influx of foreign customers, they launched their official English language site in 2008. Remember you can add an item to your ZenMarket cart by just copying and pasting the item's link into our search bar, it's that simple. Or you can browse Angelic Pretty clothes on ZenMarketPlace here.

3. Jane Marple

Jane Marple clothing is quite different from the typical lolita image. Their clothes all have stories and are said to be more of an art piece than the usual clothing. Prices are quite high for new pieces, normally ranging from around 4,000 to 50,000 yen, but you can get them cheaper on ZenMarketPlace here.

4. ALICE and the PIRATES

ALICE and the PIRATES was created in 2004 and is a line from Baby, The Stars Shine Bright. Unlike Baby, The Stars Shine Bright it has a strong pirate-punk theme with bold colours. Due to the popularity of this new line the first ALICE and the PIRATES store opened in Harajuku in 2006. View our current ALICE and the PIRATES collection here

5. Emily Temple Cute

Emily Temple Cute is a cheaper alternative to some of the more famous lolita brands. Although Emily Temple Cute isn't considered to be a full lolita fashion brand, you can still incorporate a lot of their designs into your coordinates. If you're looking for a more casual brand, then we definitely recommend Emily Temple Cute. Check out some of their clothes here
