We would like to give you an update on the consequences of typhoon Jebi (please see our initial blog post here.)
Courier services (FedEx, UPS, DHL, SF Express) are running mostly without any delay.
The situation for postal services (EMS, Airmail, SAL) is as follows:
- Most of the parcels are experiencing 2-3 day delays.
- For the remaining, unfortunately, the delays are significant (over a week). This is especially true for SAL, SAL Small Package and Airmail Small Package.
- For all Japan Post parcels tracking information, updates are delayed.
Delays are still occurring because Kansai International Airport is still not fully utilizable, therefore postal services are rerouting some parcels to other major international airports, which are also overloaded. Nevertheless, the situation is slowly improving, especially for parcels bound for countries in Asia and Europe.
In case you are in a hurry and do not want to take any chances, for a while we recommend choosing courier services available for your destination. (Please note some items, such as food, sanitary items, liquids and some others can only be shipped by postal services.)
